Volume 01 · An editorial partnership

Transform the ocean around your propertyinto a story your guests can take with them.

An artistic residency connecting luxury hospitality, marine conservation and storytelling to create an original photographic book about the ecosystem that makes your destination unique.

One selected property per destination.

Not a book about the hotel—but the ocean around it, the people protecting it, and the relationship the property chooses to build with that place.

The invisible work

Your hotel may already be doing a lot for sustainability. But can your guests feel it?

Many properties already invest in conservation, reduce impacts, support local projects and work to protect the ecosystems they depend on. But much of that work remains behind the scenes—in reports, certifications, or a small sign inside a room.

For the guest, sustainability often remains abstract. Ocean Chronicles turns those initiatives into a story that can be seen, touched and remembered: an approximately 120-page editorial work connecting ocean, science, conservation, hospitality and guest experience.

The central idea

The ocean should not be only the view.

For coastal properties, the ocean is often a defining reason guests choose the destination. Yet few reveal what exists beyond the surface.

  1. 01Who studies this ecosystem?
  2. 02Who protects it?
  3. 03Which species live here?
  4. 04What threats does it face?
  5. 05What is the property already doing to help?
  6. 06How can the guest become part of that story?

Ocean Chronicles exists to build that bridge.

How a Chronicle begins

A story created from the destination itself.

Each project begins with a 10-day residency. The story is not built from a predetermined shot list. It is discovered through the place—by observing, diving, photographing, researching and listening.

Researchers, conservationists, guides, divers, fishers, coastal communities, local organizations, hotel team members and ocean guardians become the human geography of each volume.

The 30-day process

Time to observe. Time to understand.Time to make.

01

Days 1–10 · Residency

Ten days matter because ocean conditions, weather, wildlife, people and stories cannot be compressed into a standard one-day shoot.

  • Underwater and terrestrial photography
  • Documentation of the local ecosystem
  • Research into destination stories
  • Encounters with ocean guardians and local protagonists
  • Documentation of the property’s initiatives
  • Connections between conservation and guest experience
  • A photo preview for the property team before departure
02

Days 11–30 · Editorial post-production

The property participates in two review rounds before receiving a complete, print-ready master file.

  • Photo curation and image editing
  • Complementary research
  • Narrative construction and writing
  • Editorial design and layout
  • Print-ready preparation
  • Two rounds of property review
03

Storytelling session

An in-person guest session that opens the underwater world through photography, curiosity and discovery—not an ESG lecture.

04

Team training

The hotel team learns how to present the finished Chronicle and connect its stories to guest experiences.

05

Three social films

Short behind-the-scenes films let the property’s audience follow the Chronicle as it is being born.

Physical printing and print quantity are organized by the property, with remote production guidance provided.

The result

Approximately 120 pages.One destination. A permanent story.

The physical book is the most visible output. Around it is a broader storytelling platform for the guest experience, the team and the property’s relationship with place.

Edition principle

One property per destination.

Ocean Chronicles is not designed to be replicated across every hotel in one region. Only one property is selected for each destination.

Two hotels can face the same ocean, offer similar dives and photograph the same landscapes—but only one will have that destination documented through an Ocean Chronicle.

For properties

Where the ocean is part of the identity—not only the scenery.

01

Real environmental initiatives already exist

02

Conservation or coastal communities are supported

03

Ocean-related guest experiences are part of the stay

04

Sustainability needs to enter the guest journey

05

The destination deserves a deeper emotional connection

06

Differentiation must go beyond architecture, gastronomy and service

07

The local ecosystem can become part of the property identity

08

Nature-connected luxury reflects the property’s point of view

09

The experience should continue beyond checkout

What remains

Alignment conversation

The project beginsbefore the residency.

Ocean Chronicles is not booked automatically. Every potential partnership starts with a conversation because each destination, ecosystem, season and property is different.

If there is alignment, the next step is to design the residency.

Selection

What exists here that deserves to be known—and protected?

A Chronicle needs a real story. The strongest destinations reveal a meaningful connection among hospitality + ecosystem + people + conservation.

When that answer appears, there may be a Chronicle.

About the author

An artist who found a place of confidencebeneath the surface.

Approaching 33, the author has always been an artist. At five, he survived two surgeries to remove a brain tumor. At ten, he snorkeled for the first time and found a place where he felt happy, safe and self-confident.

He has photographed the ocean for ten years and worked closely with conservation organizations for the past six. He was an ambassador for Parley’s Ocean Uprise and selected for its 2025 Summit in Hawai‘i.

His work with Ocean Culture has helped bring ocean culture across Brazil. Other experiences include bringing the ocean into a public hospital through virtual reality and participating in COP30 in Belém.

Drops of Hope

Before creating books for properties,I created one to tell my own story.

Drops of Hope connects the author’s journey as a brain tumor survivor with his relationship to the ocean through photography and storytelling.

Copies reached Dr. Sylvia Earle and Captain Paul Watson.

The author’s story was published by Parley for the Oceans in its In Focus newsletter.

Ocean Chronicles has the support of the UNESCO Chair for Ocean Sustainability.

Origin

What if these two worldscould work together?

Marine scientists and conservationists often do extraordinary work with limited storytelling resources. Luxury hospitality properties operate in—and depend on—those same destinations.

What if hospitality could create space for conservation storytelling? What if science could enter the guest experience without becoming a lecture? What if art could connect a hotel, a scientist and someone who arrived simply for a holiday?

That question became Ocean Chronicles.

Sustainability may not need another paragraph on the website. It may need a story.

A guest may not remember a list of environmental commitments. But they may remember an animal, a dive, a researcher, a story, or someone who dedicated their life to protecting that place.

That is how conservation stops being abstract. It gains a face, an image, context and memory.

The next volume

Perhaps your property already holdsthe next Ocean Chronicle.

It may be in the reef in front of the hotel. In a species that returns every year. In a researcher who has worked quietly for decades. In a community protecting that coastline. Or in the relationship your property has built with that ocean.

One property per destination.

One ocean per volume.

One story made to last.
